Building wire, panel wire or flexible cable?
Building wire is single-core and relatively stiff — the conductor pulled through conduit and trunking in a fixed installation, bought as separate colours. Panel wire is also single-core but finely stranded, so it turns tight corners inside distribution boards and control panels. Multi-core flexible cable carries two to five cores under one sheath, for appliance tails, machine drops and equipment connections where the run has to move.
When do I need armoured cable?
XLPE/SWA cable adds a steel wire layer beneath the outer sheath, giving mechanical protection wherever a run leaves a protected indoor route: buried lengths, external walls, plant yards, submains between buildings, and feeds to pumps and chillers. Stocked in three- and four-core, 4mm² to 95mm². Plain PVC cable is not a substitute in those positions.
Does UAE heat change what I should order?
It does. A conductor's current-carrying capacity is quoted against a reference ambient temperature and falls as the surrounding air gets hotter, which matters in roof voids, plant rooms and outdoor risers here. Bunching several cables together reduces it again, and a long run brings voltage drop into the calculation. Insulation temperature ratings also differ between products, so read what is printed on the sheath.
