Cable joint kits join two lengths of cable, or repair a damaged run, and seal the connection against water and dirt — the normal method for buried, external and armoured cable where a junction box will not do. Stocked here as Cellpack M-series kits covering conductor sizes from 1.5mm² up to 240mm².
Which kit fits my cable?
Kits are selected by the conductor size range they cover and by the outside diameter of the cable, so both ends of the joint must fall inside the kit's stated range. The M-series runs M11 for 1.5–10mm², M12 for 16–25mm², M13 for 35–50mm², M14 for 35–95mm², M15 for 95–150mm² and M16 for 185–240mm². Check the core count and the cable's overall diameter against the kit data as well as the mm² figure — an oversized kit will not seal correctly.
Joint kit or junction box?
A junction box is fine for accessible indoor work where it can be inspected. Once the joint will be buried, sit outdoors or get wet, it has to be sealed: a joint kit rebuilds the insulation and outer protection around the connection so the cable is enclosed again. Joints in armoured cable must also carry earth continuity across the break.
Before you order
Jointing a supply cable is electrician's work — the circuit must be isolated and proved dead, and a poorly made underground joint tends to fail quietly, months later. Confirm the cable's size and construction first; if the markings are unclear, send us a photo of the cable end and we will identify the right kit.
