An inline duct fan is mounted part-way along the ducting rather than at the opening. Because the motor sits away from the room it serves, it is the usual choice for long or awkward duct runs, for pulling air from more than one grille, and for kitchens and bathrooms where a fan at the ceiling would be too loud. A centrifugal impeller, as on the KDK 20MMA listed here, keeps moving air when the duct run itself resists it — bends, length and grille all push back.
Why fit a fan inside the duct?
Noise drops in the room because the motor is remote, the visible fitting is only a grille, and one fan can serve several extract points on a shared duct.
How do I match it to my duct?
Inline fans are sized by duct diameter, and this is an 8-inch unit — the duct, the flexible connections and the fan all need to agree, or the joints will leak and airflow suffers. We are holding this single size at present.
