Shop weatherproof switches and sockets for UAE outdoor and wash-down areas — MK Electric Masterseal and Masterseal Plus in grey, covering 13A and 15A switched socket outlets and one, two and three gang switches.
Where do these belong?
Anywhere a standard white accessory would not last: garden and landscape supplies, car ports and compound walls, pump and chiller rooms, kitchens and laundries that get hosed down, workshops and stores with heavy dust. In the UAE the enemy is usually fine dust and salt-laden humidity rather than rain, and both work into an unsealed accessory and corrode the terminals.
What does the IP number tell me?
Two digits. The first is solids: 6 means dust-tight, with no ingress at all. The second is water: 5 is protection against low-pressure jets, 6 against powerful jets. The Masterseal Compact 13A socket in this range is listed as IP66. Any rating applies with the lid closed and the cable entry properly made off — an unused entry left open defeats the enclosure.
Can I just fit a normal socket under a cover?
A standard indoor accessory does not become weatherproof because a plastic hood sits over it. A Masterseal enclosure seals at the lid on a gasket and at the back through a proper cable entry, so the whole body stays closed. Matching sockets and switches let an outdoor point and its local switching share one grey enclosure family.
The cable entry and earthing are what actually keep the rating intact — have a licensed electrician install these.
