Hager CDC441J RCCB 40A 4-Pole 30mA Type AC — ELCB

The Hager CDC441J is a 40A, 4-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB/ELCB) with 30mA Type AC sensitivity, made in France for reliable earth-leakage protection in UAE residential, commercial, and light industrial distribution boards. Its 30mA rating is calibrated for personnel protection, tripping fast enough to prevent electric shock on final circuits.

Key Features

  • Rated current: 40A, 4-pole (3P+N) configuration
  • 30mA Type AC sensitivity — personnel protection level
  • Rated voltage: 240–415V AC, 50Hz
  • Breaking capacity (Idm): 1.50kA; conditional short-circuit current (Inc): 6kA per EN 61008-1
  • IP20 protection rating, compact 4-module DIN rail width
  • Screw terminals (top) and biconnect terminals (bottom); 1–25mm² rigid / 1–16mm² flexible conductor capacity
  • Rated for 4,000 mechanical and 2,000 electrical operating cycles
  • Made in France by Hager, compliant with IEC/EN safety standards

FAQ

  • What's the difference between an MCB and an RCCB/RCD?
An MCB (miniature circuit breaker) protects a circuit from overload and short-circuit current. An RCCB/RCD like the CDC441J monitors for earth leakage current and trips to prevent electric shock — it does not provide overload protection. The two are typically installed together in a distribution board.
  • What does the 30mA sensitivity rating mean?
30mA is the personnel-protection threshold: the CDC441J trips if it detects 30mA or more of current leaking to earth, fast enough to prevent dangerous electric shock. This makes it suitable for final circuits such as socket outlets and bathrooms, unlike higher-mA (100/300mA) devices, which are used mainly for fire and equipment protection.
  • How many poles do I need?
The CDC441J is a 4-pole (3P+N) device for three-phase supplies with neutral, protecting all three phases and the neutral conductor. Use a 2-pole RCCB for single-phase circuits instead.
  • Can I install this myself?
No. This is a distribution-board component that must be installed and commissioned by a licensed electrician in accordance with UAE wiring regulations.
