Hager CE285Z RCCB 100A 2-Pole 100mA Type AC

The Hager CE285Z is a 100A, 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB/ELCB) with 100mA sensitivity, designed to protect single-phase residential, commercial, and light industrial circuits from earth leakage faults. Type AC sensing detects standard sinusoidal residual currents, disconnecting the circuit to reduce shock, fire, and equipment-damage risk. Made in France, it carries Hager's full European design and manufacturing standard.

Key Features

  • 100A rated current, 2-pole (2P) — switches line and neutral
  • 100mA tripping sensitivity — sized for fire/equipment protection, not personnel protection
  • Type AC residual current sensing for standard sinusoidal leakage currents
  • 1.5kA breaking capacity; 6kA rated conditional short-circuit current (per EN 61008-1)
  • Compact 2-module DIN rail mounting (35mm wide), IP20 enclosure
  • Rated for 2000 electrical / 4000 mechanical operations
  • Screw terminal connections
  • Complies with IEC 61008-1

FAQ

  • What's the difference between an MCB and an RCCB/RCD?
An MCB protects circuits and wiring against overload and short-circuit current. An RCCB like the CE285Z protects against earth leakage by monitoring current imbalance and disconnecting the circuit — the two are complementary and normally installed together.
  • What does the 100mA sensitivity rating mean?
100mA RCCBs are sized for fire and equipment protection, not personal shock protection — that requires a 30mA device. A 100mA unit is a common choice as a main incomer or sub-distribution device upstream of 30mA final-circuit RCDs.
  • How many poles do I need — what does 2-pole mean for this circuit?
A 2-pole (2P) RCCB switches the line and neutral conductors of a single-phase circuit. Use 2P for single-phase supplies and circuits; 4-pole devices are used where all three phases plus neutral need isolating.
  • Can I install this myself?
No. RCCBs are wired into a live distribution board and must be installed by a licensed electrician in line with UAE wiring regulations.
  • Can this be paired with MCBs on the same board?
Yes. The CE285Z is typically installed upstream of the MCBs it protects on the same Hager DIN rail, so an earth leakage fault trips the RCCB while overloads/short circuits are cleared by the individual MCBs.
