FAQ

  • What's the difference between an MCB and an RCCB/RCD?
An MCB (miniature circuit breaker) protects wiring and connected equipment against overload and short-circuit current. An RCCB/RCD protects against earth leakage by monitoring current imbalance. The two are complementary and are normally installed together in a distribution board.
  • What does the Type C tripping curve mean?
Type C trips at 5–10x rated current, giving enough headroom for motors, transformers, and ballast/LED-driver inrush without nuisance tripping.
  • What does the 6kA breaking capacity mean?
6kA is the maximum fault current this MCB can safely interrupt without damage. It should be equal to or higher than the prospective fault current at its installation point in the board.
  • How many poles do I need?
A 2-pole (2P) breaker switches both live and neutral together, giving full isolation on a single-phase circuit.
  • Is this MCB compatible with other ABB DIN-rail distribution boards?
Yes — it's a standard DIN-rail (EN 60715) mounted breaker and clips directly into ABB's modular consumer units and distribution boards alongside other ABB DIN-rail devices.
  • Can I install this myself?
No. This is a distribution board component and must be installed and connected by a licensed electrician in accordance with UAE wiring regulations — it is not a DIY consumer product.
