FAQ
-
Is this an MCB or an isolator?
It's an isolator (switch-disconnector), not an MCB. It has no overload or short-circuit protection — it only provides a manual on/off disconnect, and should be paired with separate MCBs or RCCBs for circuit protection.
-
Where should this isolator be installed?
Typically as the main incoming switch or a local isolation point ahead of the MCBs/RCCBs in a distribution board, so the whole board (or a section of it) can be isolated for maintenance without needing to trip individual breakers.
-
Can I install this myself?
No. This is trade-only distribution board equipment and must be installed and connected by a licensed electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations.
-
Can this isolator be used to switch a live circuit under load?
Isolators rated for on-load switching can do this within their utilisation category, but check the specific AC rating in the Technical Specifications table — an isolator is not a protective device and should not substitute for a circuit breaker.
